Bringing a new caravan foot onto the market, why?
When launching a HABA article, we always ask ourselves the question ‘Is the article an addition to the range and why? The range of HABA caravan feet already consisted of 3 different models and what is the added value of a 4th variant. For this reason, we have taken a different approach for the Mammoth Carafoot. We have analyzed our biggest competitor and formulated the research question differently, namely;

‘’How can HABA design an alternative article that fits under any caravan chassis and that can also compete with the biggest competitor in the market. ’’

More than 80% of all caravans on the market are equipped with an AL-KO chassis. AL-KO has designed the Bigfoot that fits seamlessly under an AL-KO chassis. In addition to the fact that this article fits perfectly under the AL-KO chassis, this model is also protected. For HABA, an immense challenge to bring an alternative article onto the market. But with the Mammoth Carafoot, we believed we could meet this challenge!

From concept to creation
The development of the Mammoth Carafoot began in March 2021 and took a total of 2.5 years. HABA's R&D team worked intensively on a design that is not only universally applicable, but also offers additional functionality compared to the competition.

Our R&D team followed a careful development process to realize the Mammoth Carafoot. From the concept phase, we looked at what unique features the product should offer. The unique features had to fulfill the main focus for the Mammoth, which is ease of use and easy installation.

What followed was the first design of the Mammoth Carafoot with a unique spring clamp mechanism. This invention is protected in the form of a patent.

After the concept phase, a prototype was produced that underwent multiple tests. From these tests, we were able to confirm the quality of the load-bearing capacity, stabilization and traction of the caravan foot.

We were also able to test the unique spring clamp mechanism. We tested this on various caravans. This spring clamp ensures a quick and effortless installation of the Mammoth and does not need to be disconnected after it has been attached to the chassis. The most important feature of the spring clamp mechanism is that it ensures that the caravan foot does not rattle while driving.

Through numerous tests with different caravan bases, we have also found that the Mammoth is compatible with almost every caravan base.

After months of testing, the final result is a robust caravan foot with a unique spring clamp mechanism that meets all requirements and even more to compete. The Mammoth has been introduced to the market and distinguishes itself from the competition based on price, design, applicability, ease of use, larger bearing surface and traction.
